Matt Reeves to Replace Ben Affleck's Batman Script

At the beginning of 2017, Ben Affleck was on track to direct, write, and star in The Batman. Cut to a few months later, and - well, one out of three ain't bad.

Matt Reeves took over as director in January, and has just revealed that he has discarded Affleck's script, telling MTV News:

“It’s a new story, it’s starting again. I’m excited about it.”

It's not clear what has changed, or who will be writing the new script. The original, noir influenced script, was co-written by Chris Terrio and Geoff Johns. It's very possible that either of those two - particularly Johns, who is deeply involved in all aspects of DC Entertainment, will have a hand in the new story.

Ben Affleck will next appear as Batman in Justice League, which premieres November 17.
