New Black Panther Trailer and Poster Bring the Revolution
Marvel Studios unveiled a new trailer and poster today, promoting the upcoming release of Black Panther. In addition to highlighting how spectacular this movie looks, and the majesty and mystery of Wakanda, both promotional items highlight King T'Challa's large cast of friends and foes.
The trailer is beautiful but brief, and suggests that much of the film's story, and many of it's characters, are drawn from the iconic run on the Black Panther comic by writer Christopher Priest, who redefined the character and expanded his universe significantly, for the 21st century.
Originally screened to massive praise and excitement at Comic-Con International, the trailer has been edited and enhanced with a soundtrack from Vince Staples and the great Gil-Scott Heron. Director Ryan Coogler has assembled a remarkably star-studded cast including Chadwick Boseman in the title role, Angela Bassett as his mother Ramonda, Martin Freeman as hapless liaison Everett K. Ross, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, and Michael B. Jordan as Killmonger. What's more, he has clearly made a character out of Wakanda itself, the technologically and mystically enhanced African nation that is one of the great wonders of the Marvel Universe. Black Panther looks like one the best Marvel movies to date, and is poised to expand the cinematic universe and propel it into new heights and a bold, beautiful future.
